RAIPUR: Sending out a message on conservation of environment on Earth Day, chief minister Raman Singh took out a massive cycle on Friday morning, covering a distance of 5km from Telibandha lake to Rajkumar College with participation of nearly 10,000 people in state capital.
Singh inaugurated the mega 'cycle rally' at Telibandha lake with theme 'Chhattisgarh ne Thana Hai- Subko Paani Bachana Hai'. Singh in his address said, "Our mother earth is beautiful and to save it, people should protect water, air, sky and forests. It is a challenge to all the inheritors of planet Earth. As long as there is water there are forests that keep Earth safe and secure."
He called upon common citizens to take a pledge to conserve water on World Earth Day. CM said that with co-operation of people, state government is making efforts towards preserving groundwater and surface water in various forms. The Cycle Rally started at 6am with CM terming it as the Mahakumbh in Raipur. He hailed the participation of various institutions, students and common citizens. The route was made traffic-free.
