RAIPUR: Indian Building Congress (IBC) has selected Naya Raipur's five-star green building Paryavas Bhawan for its award for the best office building.

Naya Raipur Development Authority (NRDA) chief engineer Salil Shrivastava received the award from Union minister for urban development M Venhkaiah Naidu at a function in New Delhi.

AN NRDA release said the selection of state's Paryavas Bhawan from among entries from different states was based on superior design and construction, maintaining eco-friendly construction and green building standards.

Since its inception in 1996, Indian Building Congress (IBC) has instituted awards for different categories including residential building, complex, commercial buildings, institutional premises, industrial premises, reconstruction of buildings and infrastructure construction area.

Situated at North Block, Sector 19, the building houses offices of NRDA, Chhattisgarh State Housing Board and state environment protection board. Constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 59.56 crore, the five-storeyed eco-friendly building has 430 rooms and six conference halls in an area of 15,000 square metre. A 220-seater hall is also proposed to be constructed.

Earlier, Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment (GRIHA) has accorded five-star status to this building which has a solar power plant of 200 KW and elaborate arrangement for rain water harvesting.
